    LF Forum Funding?

Having renewed my APUG subscription at the same time the LF Forum went down caused even this slow brain to wonder how the LF Forum is funded? I am grateful for the education and camaraderie-fellowship that both forms have given to me. I see sponsors and subscribers at APUG and wonder who or what pays the bills here? Both forms have been a great value to me. I gather both forms are on variations of the same software. I know nothing of server costs but powerful computers aren’t cheap. Are subscriber and sponsor funds needed here? Yes, believe it or not, in this horrible economy and on a retiree’s income, I am asking if we LF Forum members need to pony up?

The answer is on this page:

    http://www.largeformatphotography.info/credits.html

the third paragraph of which reads:

"largeformatphotography.info is operated on a volunteer basis by Q.-Tuan Luong and Tom Westbrook, using server space generously donated by Brian Reid, refered to us by Tim Atherton."

Thanks Ken I will pass that on.

John, Thanks for the thought. This is the way QT wants it, free and no compromises. FWIW, I have seen him turn down serious offers for paid advertising too.
    Thanks,

Well thank you, thank you all who have contributed. I like the place and thought I should ask if it needed my fair share and perhaps some from others. I am afraid I can’t offer much more. Though I sold software the last twenty years before I retired it was the engineers who kept my promises. They on the other hand made very sure I understood what I could promise.

    Thanks,

    John

I admire, in these days, that there are people who are brave enough for doing this way.

Thank you very much. In a country like Brazil, LF Forum is an oasis.

In the United States also, this forum is an Oasis! I, too, owe much to this group for the education in LF that I have gotten for nothing more than my time spent reading.

This is the only forum where I would be prepared to make a cash contribution to keep it going. As you must know I'm not the only one in the UK who appreciates the work of all who keep it running and free.

    Re: LF Forum Funding?

This forum is nearly a daily read for me, and that's a measure of how valuable are its contributors, their knowledge, their (most nearly always) civility, their welcome of newcomers. If there is ever a call for funds, I will be there.

Thanks to all who contribute, to all who answer others' questions, to all who venture ideas to trouble-shoot problems that others have, and most of all, to all who share their work/their art.

    blessings on all!

This forum is my home page, and a daily read. I would happily contribute funding if it was ever needed.
