    Re: Abstracts

I'm not usually one to repost, but the first pass I took at this (and the version I posted to the Still Life thread) was done very quickly. Since I've elected to take Jim Cole up on his offer and get this printed quite large, I had to rescan and rework the file with that kind of output in mind. This new version is cropped a bit wider than the earlier one and is darker and more richly layered. This is certainly the most painterly photograph I've ever taken.

    Century 10A, 15" f/4 B&L projection Petzval, 8x10 Ektachrome 100S (expired 2005).

Thanks. I'm not usually very happy with the photos I take, but this is the rare exception.

Amazing what a little futzing with curves can do. (You'll get an up-close and personal view when I send you the master file in a day or so).

It looks like a painting! Excellent abstract - great shapes and colors. It should make a gorgeous print.

Hard to top those glass photos, but ...

Middletown CT at the pyro workshop last weekend. 210mm trioplan, speed graphic, fp4+, pyrocat hd.

This is a "what else it is" photo, since the trailer is subordinate, and the shapes and tones and texture are what it's mostly about. I don't consider it an equivalent, so I don't think it goes over in that thread.

Not exactly abstract I guess, but I'm not sure where else to put it.
