    Was the storm cloud causing the difference in light level or something else?

    All I can figure out is that it was a light leak do to the splitter I used on the 8x10" Deardorff

    Ahh makes sense, sorry for the loss, at least the other half isn't so bad on its own.

    Yeah, you've got to cut those splitters in an L shape so it still engages the light trap fully.

    Although I used a split darkslide for a while, I now find it much easier to cut a piece of black foamcore that will friction fit inside the back. Makes it easier to compose, and you can use normal holders and slides. I did one I use for firm testing that allows four images on a sheet, and I often carry two, one portrait and one landscape, when traveling in case I run low on film (they weigh nothing in the camera bag).
