    Introduction

I am a great reader but not so much talkative usually, i read of you all a lot but never posted a word in here before. Anyway now is the time to do it....i am an happy owner of a Shen-Hao hzx 45II who's thinking to upgrade (or downgrade) do the 8x10 format with a FCL 810-AII....I am trying since long time to realize that it makes no sense at all but i simply cannot stop thinking to it....Is there someone that can finally discourage me??
Thanks to you all directly from Italy

In my frame of reference money spent is a poor value judgement for experience gained.

I had this same itch as you for some years before I moved to 8X10 and eventually to 12X20. I do not regret my experience.

My advice to you, though not discouraging, is to listen to your heart and follow your passion. Matters of passion or of the heart seldom if ever make sense.

BTW where in Italy do you live. I am in Milano at present...leaving for the Philippine Islands on the 21st.

    Saluti Scavenger,

I bought an 8 x 10 Plaubel Peco Profia about two years after I'd bought my Arca Swiss 4 x 5 - the Plaubel is most certainly a studio camera by anybody's terms, but I've packed that monster into many places that goats would be afraid to go. I love to set-up and just look at the image on the huge ground glass - often not actually taking a shot!

Keep the 4 x 5 and go get an 8 x 10. We only live once (or so I've been told)!

I used to live in Vicenza in the early 90s. . .and have visited Naples more times that is probably legal (back when I was in the navy).

    Ciao & buon fortuna,

    Johnny

I think Donald said it best. I agree with him. The only way to know is to try it. Good luck!
