Sinar Tilt & Pan Head - pan is stiff

Hi, I have the greenish, old type head (thanks Frank), but panning has been getting stiffer and stiffer lately, even with the screw well loosened. When turning left it often unscrews the head from the tripod base. Is there a way to smoothen things up, by say lubricating something? Does it need to be taken apart?

    Thanks

    Dirk

Solved by opening the base via the underside, cleaning and lube.

Glad it worked out. Those are terrific tripod heads.
