Great setup, Thomas. I had the same CLS 301 head on my 5x7 Durst, but sold it when I got my DeVere 8x10. Good head for 5x7 & smaller! Now have my SM-183 5x7 Durst stored. Wish I could put it to use, but don't have the room! It's the same as head yours, but with the L-184 base and double column from the 8x10 enlargers.

thanx Luis! So you got the 184 double column base withe the 301 for 5x7? Looks awesome.

Whats your powering setup for driving those two 300V halogens? I got an old tektronix 40 Amp power supply that might fail sooner or later
    and was wondering about alternatives

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

When I had the CLS 301, the EST 301 power supply was 120 and delivered 120 to the Halogens and 220 to the Lafan. I had a spare TRA 301 power supply shown below, also 120 input, but sold it last year. I believe others had 120 or 220 power in, and delivered the right power out. Right now, I only have the condenser head and the Aristo Cold light head for it. That's a nice thing about the DeVere, it's all 120, so worst case scenario, I can rewire the bulbs if needed! Below is the TRA, the back and the insides. You can see it can be set up for 120, 220, or 240 by moving the jumpers.

Right now, the SM-183 would look like this:

I haven't had a darkroom in a little over 20 years so you can imagine how excited I am to have been given enough equipment to set up two last weekend, one I am giving to a friend, the other I am obviously keeping for myself.

Now you just need the space to set it up and use it

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

This is for all the folk here who think I just post. I post during breaks. I got a lot done today. instaled a Fire Alarm box on ye olde veranda. It is firmly bolted down. Pic 2.

Maybe it looks little and it is compared to my Chicago Darkroom, but now I know what I want.

Last Fall I moved and couldn't move anything myself. Problems! Today I am proud to say I carried this a 100 ft from the shed into the house and just put it back together. It's 4 pieces in parts. A 7' Calumet Leedall made by Rosy Products who is still in business in Michigan. He will make anything Stainless you want. This one is heavy as it's insulated with some sort of wafer board.

Note the gloves, use them when moving sinks. I had to give away goatskin gloves to a lovely lady who carried 1/2 my 10 ft sink out in Chicago. She was strong as Hell and small. Impressed me.

This was my bedroom until i decided it was a darkroom. Next week I cut holes in the wall under the sink and connect to water at the washing machine on the other side. Easy.

Nice sink. While I'm okay with my non-traditional DR w/o a big sink like that, I'll admit I kinda want one. Just too expensive (I always seem to miss out on the freebie ones going to the dumpster).

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

Bryan your Darkroom blows mine away. It's as traditional as can be. And twice the size of mine. I got the sink for $100 6 years ago. So what. I am a very good shopper. Yesterday I got a huge frame for $6 at Goodwill and a prop hat for $4. Nobody wanted them. I wasn't depriving the truly poor. I live on SS alone. I paid in for 40 years until I was put to pasture in 2008. Not rich. Not starving. Been there too. Do you know what an SRO is? I do. From the inside.

Next, I plan to use cheap Menards Utility sinks to hold my $50 Print washer and DIY Gas Burst System. I don't want any leaks. This is my last home.

Then a wall of enlargers in 100" opposite the sink. CB7, two Beseler 23, 1 condenser, 1 Color, and a Focomat V35. A 10X10 will block the only window which is boarded up. I expect my floor to collapse. Termites! So what. Soon enough i will join my 2 deceased wives and 3 deceased girlfriends. I miss them. I loved them.

    Until then I live!

Dry space is the living room which is also a shooting studio. I don't own any real furniture. No couch, no fancy crap. My stereo is $20 of 2 Shure Vocal Masters 5' tall. Fantastic! I am used to living in a storefront in Chicago in the ghetto. Did that at least 20 years. No shower for 5 years. I showered at work or...

I am very glad Medicare and my Plan F is going to try and fix my eyes.

    It will great to see!

Dylan Thomas said it all. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I will not go gentle into that good night.

    Or as Jimi sang,

    'Oh yeah
If I don't meet you no more in this world, then
I'll meet you in the next one
    And don't be late
    Don't be late.'

I saw him perform in 1968 and that's another story
