Re: Finally ! Darkroom is all together (mostly)

Brad Pitt visited me this weekend and I took some crappy pics of him posing in my space.

New to this darkroom is the storage system, before everything was under the sinks, and I also moved the sinks so I can walk around easier.
Next is to build my dry racks using the same storage system.

    Darkroom in progress

    G'day

Here is my darkroom so far. It is still in progress but getting close to completion.

It is a dedicated studio my father and I have built in the back yard, the space measures 3600mmx2400mm (or 12'x8').

The timber floating floor was free and I picked up a 25L water heater the other day for $35.

There will be a stainless steel trough measuring 2400mmx800mm spanning the wall in the first picture. A dry bench will span the other wall for enlarging, film loading and drying.

I think that's about it for now, I'll keep this updated often for anyone who is interested.

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

    Bob,

I'm kinda surprised you don't have anti fatigue mats along the wet side. Thought they were the best thing since sliced bread when I first set foot upon one years ago

    Re: Lets See Your Darkroom

Here's a few shots of my currently messy (but comfortable) small darkroom. Shoehorned into the walk-in closet / laundry at the back of my loft. I have really high ceilings and can manage prints up to 16x20 (or even 20x24) if I'm really motivated and have a beast of a Zone VI 16x20 washer out of view in the photos. I plan to install an 8' sink if I ever get around putting in a front loading washer and dryer set to support it.

As it is now, print processing trays sit on the white counter. Chem and tray storage on shelves above and underneath. My sink, plus 8x10 and 11x14 print & film washers are on the other side. I use non-marring art clips to hang film and prints from the bottom rack to dry and overflow prints sit right on the racks. On the dry side, paper storage is in the grey cabinets under the enlargers. I have a Durst M605 Dichro and Omega D5XL with Pro-Lab Condenser head for 4x5. They are currently sharing a newly acquired RH Designs Analyzer Pro (the jury is still out on that item). The enlarger stand and cabinets is from an old electronics workbench and weighs about 200lbs. Pretty stable surface for printing and works quite well.

Between the wet side counter (when cleaned up for the purpose) and the Seal press on the dry side, I have plenty of space for mounting and matting finished prints.

Sure. They use slopestone in Australia too? It is very commonly used here in SoCal for yard walls.

ROL - it took me a couple of seconds to figure out what you were on about... (we call them a Splitface here) That type of block wall is pretty common here too for simplicity and low cost.

No darkroom in which to put it right now (or in the foreseeable future), but I'm too excited about this thing to not post it.
