Welcome to group therepy! Lots of folks around here ues professional processors for either processing, printing, scanning, or all three, especially for color work. I use it for all three at times, scan my own some of the time.
Welcome from another new member. I process (almost) all my own film, then scan from there..
Just developed my first 4x5 negs... dam* they are big!
No!
panchro-press, That's a quick very short reply. Are you sure?
I do large format (4x5), and all I do is color.
Color is hard, and rarely worth doing yourself, though some people do.
The benefits of LF aren't solely for B&W, and are amazing in color.
Look at QT's sample pages for some really excellent LF color shots.
So, my short answer is definitely yes, it's worth LF with outside processing. But it is more expensive.
Wait until you are looking at 4x5 Velvia for the first time. My jaw hit the light table.
I have been shooting 35MM for the past 35 years, I always wanted a 4X5 but you know it is. The kids were growing and school. Just didn't the time and or money.
