    However, I found the intellectual possibilities of the subject to be little more than fodder for good-natured ridicule.

    And I agree with Paul and rdenney that the tone, negativity, and sloppy logic of your post were pretty much an invitation to the responses you got.

    Even though I print from negatives, I tried to keep things positive. But as others have mentioned, Jay's tone was negative, such as his "S(t)uck in the Mud" comment. He also made sweeping generalities, which I find to be the opposite of intellectual statements.

    So Jay, reexamine your own writings with an open mind, if you have one, and be willing to accept a large part of the blame for the reactions your writings drew.

    PS...referring to yourself in the third person, while a wonderful literary form, tends to be taken as a bit egotistical in real life and forums.
