Does anyone use ZS 4 Portraits?

Curious; Does anyone use the zone system for their portraiture? I assume it's only with natural and/or hot lights? Do you dare attempt with strobes?????

I'd love to see some examples with commentary.

    thanx in advance, jos. R.

Zone system is not magic. It is simply matching the characteristics of your materials to the lighting situation in such a way that the final image comes out the way you intended and planned for it to come out.

I use usually more or less because I have ZS so deeply in my backbone.
With flash, with hot lights, with natural light... Anything goes.

However I don't use it as intentionally as in other photography. I just check where shadows will fall if I put highlight to for eg. VII or vice versa. And check the overall tonality.

Usually portrait don't need any kind of special development, I just measure with N settings and set up lights to match up.

Like jbenedict said, it's not magic. It works with portraits just like with anything else.
