    Clogging on Recent Pigment Printers?

What's clogging like on recent pigment printers like the Epson 2880, Canon 9500, Epson 3880, maybe the 3800, etc?

I ask, because I have a friend who's looking for a printer, and he doesn't plan on using it that often. I have a 4000, and given it's clogging tendencies, I'm a little skittish to recommend a pigment printer without the insights of those who've used recent printers.

Can one use the Windex strategy on recent printers like it can be used on the 4000? (Place small paper towel on head resting pad and soak with Windex.)

The only comparison I can personally make is between the 4000 and 3800. Here in the dry desert SW the 4000 clogged good about once a week, The 3800 has never clogged at all, even when I didn't use it for many months.
    Thanks,

    Kirk,

Thanks! This helps out a lot. Do you use Windex with the 3800?

Also, as I understand it, your 4000 didn't clog nearly as much after using Windex.

My 2200 and 3800 are used about once every two weeks on average. The 3800 has required one cleaning in a year of use, the 2200 needed about three times as many.

I've had a 3800 since they first came out and have had very minimal clogging issues. I had one stretch of 5 months without printing and needed to do a single cleaning cycle. I think I had a second instance of needing to do a cleaning cycle. That's it for three years. No windex or special cleaning on my part.

Neil, the 3800 has not require a single Windex treatment.

I bought a 3800 when it first came out and it has never clogged on me at all. Like Barry I've only done about 2-3 cleaning cycles as well.
