Last Thursday I went to a small gathering of a local photography group to see a presentation by Jack Hedrich, the youngest of four brothers of Hedrich Blessing Photographers. Retired, he is now over 80, still sharp, and funny. He talked about how the business got started in 1929 as well as when he entered the business and his career there. He was not a photographer, he ran the business.

He showed two carousels of slides, images made on 8x10 film. Some were black & white while others were Kodachrome, which still looked great and others were some other color film stock which didn't hold up so well. The photos spanned from the early '30's Chicago/Worlds Fair into the '80's. Many were taken in Chicago, exteriors as well as interiors; private and public. There were other states including the famous shot his brother took of Falling Water in PA. and other interior shots there too.

They sold over 40 years and tens of thousands of images to the Chicago Historical Museum. These can be viewed at the Museum though the commentary by Jack will be missing.
