Are lumen prints the same as silver gelatin, once fixed the exhibit the same archival characteristics as a fibre print?

if you fix a lumen print in the normal way the colors will change, usually for the worse. I have no reason to believe its any less archival though. There are other ways of fixing them which purportedly yield better results but still change the colors, such as using chromeskedasic (thiocyanate based) fixer. But I haven't tried those yet. I've been photographing them onto color negatives and making RA-4 prints in order to get "permanent" images.

Gum over Palladium - one is sepia one is blue magenta pigment. In each case I registered a second negative to work on the shadow regions only and tried not to hit the highlights.

Lovely tones Bob! Both images work for me.

Beautiful ironage! The exposed borders I find a little distracting though

Thanks Eric. I have framed this print to take away the borders. What bothers me most about this process is that I haven't been able to reach Dmax.

Bob, these are really cool. I'm assuming the second neg was just for an additional gum layer? Did you generate it by using "blend if"? It would be interesting to see the image before and after the second layer was added. It looks like you have the technique worked out, I'm looking forward to seeing more.
