Found a small stack of prints and thought I'd scan this old gum print. Printed using a 4x5 TMax100 negative before they started using the anti-UV layer on the film.

Gum print -- one of my first...awhile back! Not well coated, but one of my favorite images from that trip.
The image actually looks better on screen (more contrast than in the print) -- so this is how I would like to have printed it.

Project is on body image vs food and diet.





First image is on Forte Warmtone (cherries) and second image on Ilford Warmtone (red salad).

I post a request in the For sale section for old papers, too fogged for regular printing.

B&W Warmtone fiber papers are very welcome. Forte Warmtone react beautifully, I suspect than Fortezo will be similar.
I will be happy to have some warmtone Oriental or Kentmere as I don't test any of theses.
We can make exchange, shipping each others the items. Take a look at my profile to see my equipment, large format or darkroom.

Any comments are welcome too.
The prints are straight, I didn't try any toners till now. So prints are mostly fix first and some developper and fix alternate sequences.

Vaughn, that looks nice on my monitor. Very rich. Now the task of getting it there in the print.

Jim, I used this negative to make my first carbon prints way back when. After many attempts and finally getting a decent carbon from it (but no relief, that came later), I decided all that work justifies a larger print, so I moved up to 5x7 and so continued on learning the carbon printing process using 5x7 negatives. Up to 11x14 now, but no, I think that is large enough! LOL!

What I like about the image is how it represents a long bit of time (25 minutes), with the sunlight being painted onto the scene. Taken on a trail through the rain forest along the southwestern coast of Costa Rica. We were traveling by public bus, my backpack a little on the large size as inside was all my 4x5 gear. Gowland PocketView, 150mm/5.6 Caltar IIN.

My notes from taking the image says "(Pentax meter readings) 1 to 7+ Sun snuck into frame from left side sun created some readings of 9 might work out great!" I used f64 for 25 minutes (exposing at 3+ on the meter). I also suggested n-2 development. This was taken on Christmas Day, 1989...did not record nor remember how it was developed!
