Clogged heads????

I have an Epson 3800 printer and was wondering how often I should clean the nozzle on my printer? The printer has been printing fine,would cleaning the nozzle improve my prints? I've had the printer for just shy of two years.What are the symptoms of a clogged nozzle?

Print a nozzle check pattern from the Epson utilities and examine the patterns to see if there are any missing or crooked bars. Also, the printer does clean itself periodically to help keep itself unclogged.
