I stopped by an interesting Ansel Adams exhibit in San Diego last week (Balboa Park, next to the zoo, $6, http://www.mopa.org/exhibitions/current.htm).

It was a sort of survey of his work, mostly landscape, about eighty prints. Many of the iconic prints were there (including three variations of Moonrise, plus a replica of the negative on a light box).

What was really interesting to me were the early prints that they had on display. They had his Parmelian Portfolio and Sierra Club prints there, including a very early Monolith. I don't think I've seen these in print form before.

Very much worth seeing if you are in the area. Plus you can check out the Richard Avedon exhibit a few doors down.

Now if only the MoPA would get some cool looking t-shirts and hats I would have spent a little money there...
