My first was well over eposed but as I was unsure I bracketed and although it was also overexposed I got this out of it using photoshop on the scanned tranny. March 2002.

This was an open dump in the San Luis Valley in Colorado, made during the only photo class I took in college. Amazing place. Ancient appliances, strange cultural cast-offs, dead livestock. The smell was hard to take.

I used the school's equipment ... a huge calumet studio camera (it comes in a coffin-like case that leaves your shins black and blue if you have to carry it more than a few feet). An old, very fuzzy caltar lens.

I still like this picture. It's a stroke of luck that it survived at all ... I managed to destroy the next dozen or so negs through ham-fisted tray development and routine camera mistakes. There's actually a lot of spot tone in that sky. Took me a while to figure out how easy it is to scrape the emulsion off of a neg with the corner of another one.

In the trash dump vein, one of my first (2006) LF experiences was hiking the watershed area of Montgomery County, MD. Back in the Good Old Days, folks would dump any old thing out there, cars included:
