    Per Glazers today/ no more Tmax400 8x10

Called Glazers today to order 5x7 and 8x10 TMax 400. The 5x7 is on the way but the sales guy told me no more 8x10 TMY-2 at all as Kodak has discontinued it.

    Is this reality?

I held while he checked further and he came back on and said the 8x10 in 400 is no longer available at all... discontinued. Only in 4x5 and 5x7 and their custom run sizes. 8x10 available from Kodak now is only Tri-X.

Not an Aprils fool joke but what I got from them when placing an order today.

That is un***king believable. They just a couple of years ago introduced this new emulsion, which I would think is much loved by 8x10 photographers.

I looked a couple weeks ago and B&H and Badger were both sold out. I thought they may have come to their senses and were going back to 25 sheet boxes.

If true, this is very sad information....

I'm sure coming up with enough orders to have a special cut done like the ULF cuts won't be too much of a problem.

PS I just checked B&H and they have 45+ boxes of TMY-2 in 8x10 available. I think the Glazer's guy is incorrect..

Doesn't make sense that 5x7 would be a standard item and 8x10 would be discontinued. I thought that the 5x7 was the special item and that Glazers still has some left over from an old buy. Try and find 5x7 TMAX 400 at the other places.

I don't know that I'd be rushing to judgement just yet. If they discontinued the 10-sheet box and introduced a 25-sheet box, as we've asked, it would have a new catalog number and the old number would show as discontinued.

Having said that, my decision last year to switch to HP5+ looks pretty good. More coming in from Freestyle this week.

It looks like B&H, Badger, Calumet and Freestyle have it. I wonder if Glazers might be deciding not to stock it. Or that they might be confused by the TMY1 vs TMY 2 availabilities.

I keep hearing one or another retailer has proclaimed some product has been discontinued. Then, later, it frequently turns out to have been a false alarm.

I'm not saying this particular question isn't real, but that the retailers haven't been the best source for information in the last few years.

This post on APUG indicates that Glazers is incorrect:

I called Kodak at 10:20 AM EST this morning. Their technical service department, and the customer service department both state that TMY-2 400 in 8x10, 10 sheet boxes are not discontinued and will continue to be available.

Is is possible that Glazers is just not bringing it in due to cost? Wasnt Glaszers the ines that did all the pre-orders for the odd ball cut sheet film last year?

That reminds me, I need to call Dante back about a lens in their used section.

FWIW, it appears that Glazers is on the list for the Ilford 2009 ULF order as well. It seems doubtful that they'd be involved in that but not ordering TMY 8x10.

Retailers can be odd,and things change. In 1989 I was at the Maine Workshops and a fellow student asked me how I could be still using Tri-X... as his local (New England) retailers had told him that Tri-X was discontinued and that he should buy T-Max 400 (which, no surprise, they had in stock.) I have no idea about Glazer's, but it's unlikely that (even today's) Kodak would discontinue an almost brand-new film.
