SFMOMA "GEORGIA O'KEEFFE AND ANSEL ADAMS Natural Affinities"

Opening May 30th "GEORGIA O'KEEFFE AND ANSEL ADAMS Natural Affinities." I just got the postcard, and I'll definitely be checking this one out.

(That would be the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art)

    Re: upcoming SFMOMA photo exhibits

Other interesting photo exhibits at SFMOMA this summer:

Looking In: Robert Frank's "The Americans"
    May 16th - August 23rd, 2009
Includes all 83 photos from "The Americans" in the order of the book.

Also starting May 16th, their Picturing Modernity exhibit will have images from their photo collection from people who influenced and were influenced by Frank.

    Richard Avedon (Photographs 1946-2004)
    July 11th - November 29th, 2009
"This exhibition presents more than 200 of his photographs, ranging from street scenes taken after World War II and images of the glamorous fashion world of 1950s Paris to a selection of his more recent and best-known works: portraits of artists, heads of state, and celebrities."

Note: A special timed ticket (with extra fees) will be required for the O'Keeffee/Adams and Avedon shows. These tickets can be purchased/reserved in advance.

Re: SFMOMA "GEORGIA O'KEEFFE AND ANSEL ADAMS Natural Affinities"

Not that it really matters.... interesting, when this show started at the Georgia O'Keefe museum in Santa Fe, they heavily advertised that this was the first time the two had been shown together, which I knew was not true. The Museum of New Mexico had done a similar show back in the early 80's, probably somewhat smaller but stunning none-the-less. I wrote them and informed them about the earlier show. Their response was curt and defensive saying that well a show of this size had never been done before (though size was not in their original claim) bringing these particular works together etc. At least on their website they later modified their claim of the first time together. It appears now that they have dropped that claim altogether. Anyway it should be well worth seeing. Two of my all time favorite interpreters of the New Mexico landscape.
    Thanks,

    OH boy!
I'm planning to visit family and friends in that window of time for the show. I will make it a point to see it. The wife wants to see the Egyptian relic show so I'll have her drop me off. I rather see paintings and photos then some dusty old relics.

I saw this in Florida a few months ago - very much worth seeing.
