will Kodak D-76 do Ortho film?

I have a box of Ortho film to expose and wondered if D-76 soup will work to process it?

Yes, it will.

You can even process it under a red safelight.

I think that I processed litho film, that is ortho, in paper developer. Can't remember for sure. It's been almost 30 years since I did that. YIKES! Time goes by.

Yes, as long as you are not trying for a big buildup of contrast, i.e. you want the tonality normal to whatever ortho film you have. Jump to Dektol / D72 for somewhat more contrast, and to D-19 for serious contrast increase.

Kodak D-72 - same as Dektol - for film or prints. Neutral tone print developer, High contrast film developer

Increasing dilution lowers contrast.
