    Best tape to prevent sag?

As we all know LF and ULF film will sag forward in the middle when the camera is pointed down. I have heard that some people use double-sided tape to secure the film in the middle of the film holder to prevent the sag. What is the best tape for this application, best in the sense that it does the job and keeps the film from sagging, and leaves no residue on the back of the film?

I don't know which tape but I have a different idea. Use the photo mount glue stick's. the non permanent ones. Just put a swipe on the back of your holder and then press the film into it. It's non acidic and cleans off easily and has no thickness so it won't push out the film.

Alan, do you wipe glue off neg before you develop, or just let it come off in the developer? It does not leave a residue on the film holder after you wipe off, or do you remove it with a solvent?

The best tape to use would be 3M 928 "repositionable" ATG tape. This has a high tack
adhesive on one side, which should face the holder, and a reusable "Post-it" weak
adhesive on the other, which should face the film. Rub it down firm on the filmholder, let it set up overnight, and it can be left in the filmholder. It does not transfer any residue to the film. Very similar to what Sinar uses for their adhesive holders, except that they use it as a sheet cut slightly smaller than the film itself, in a modified holder
with the film retainer slots removed. But absolutely do not use conventional ATG tape.
And I would carefully trim it, rather than using an ATG gun (dispenser).

I would think that the residue would come off in the water pre-soak. You do use a pre-soak before you develop ULF don't you?

It is water soluble, so it just washes away and leaves no residue. The problem with tape is it gets dirty, has to be removed and then can leave a messy residue that is only removed with a solvent
