    Anyone use this tripod??

Been looking for a tripod for my Cambo 4x5 rail camera and found a Dynax -65" tripod at Best Buy, link is attached. It says it is a video camera but looks very steady and the price looks good, no way the wife would let me spend more. It will be all outdoor shooting.

So I was wondering if anyone uses this tripod and if so what do you think or if you use something like it let me know the brand.

    Thanks!!

Gee even the Best Buy reviews aren't very positive. Why not get a ~$75 to $125 Tiltall on eBay or from the For Sale section?

You could find better -most likely..never heard of dynax
used on ebay or whatever for less
    Bogen
    Tiltall
    1950's Ries
    Surveyor

I wouldn't go that route, anyway
Wanna know a route I have gone
    Ebay Dynatran
    Not even their high-end models
Probably not the precision of other makes -being chinese knockoff of bogen

I have a ries and use the 8lb dynatran with their 3 way 5 lb max head
    Tachihara, though.

Nope. Put good money towards a good tripod.

Crappy tripods are not worth the money, time and frustration. In addition to those mentioned, a used Gitzo aluminum tripod could be a good buy. Depending on what you're using it for, a Zone VI Lightwight (ha!) or a surveyor's tripod make good "in the muck" pods. (You'll have to do a little adapting with the surveyor's pod.) Giottos makes some good look'n pods.

a cheap pod is false economy- The pos you are looking at wont hold a 4X5.....

The least expensive pod that is usable is, a Tiltall - $100 at BH. (head included)

No offense, but I don't tell MY wife about my purchases!

The Tiltall you want is the good one made in New Jersey. The same tripod may appear with a Leitz name. Don't pay extra for the Leitz name. Used Berlebachs come along now and then. Good tripods!

A parting thought: I don't buy from Best Buy. Period. End of conversation.

keep an eye out for the 3021 bogen tripods and the 3047 heads. you can get them in your price range. awesome tripods. another option is a local camera show. generally the "bigger" tripods sell pretty cheap....no one wants to bring them back home. where are you located?
