    Daguerreotype of New York in 1840s Sold by Sotheby’s

    "A photo believed to be one of the oldest ever taken in New York City was sold on Monday at Sotheby’s for $62,500, the auction house said. "

    That's actually not a bad price. I would have guessed that it would have sold for at least $100,000 at a cold auction. If you have some money to spend you can build a really great collection of historical photos relative to what modern art costs. Thanks for the post Arkady. Have a nice day. -Steven

    Sounds dirt cheap considering what the first of anything would usually go for in the US. Especially of or about NYC.
