Colorado Plateau / Grand Canyon Photographers

Are there any photographers, currently living, who specialize in black and white landscapes of the Colorado Plateau (i.e., Sedona, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Zion, Paria River, Bryce, Escalante, Canyonlands, San Rafael Swell, Capitol Reef, Arches, etc.).

By "specialize", I mean their name is associated with this region the way Clyde Butcher is associated with Florida, the way Nathan Farb is associated with the Adirondacks, the way Jay Dusard is associated with Cowboys.

Large format film definitely preferred, but any format usage is okay. Work must be in Black and White.

Interesting that no real prominent names comes to mind, for an area that contains such "quintessential" landscapes. People who live there tend to work in color. B&W photographers come there on road trips.

I like to work along the Mogollon rim...but I'm not yet famous, or prolific, or all that good...but I do like it. :-)
I've got my gear, now what?

Yes, it's somewhat sad that the emphasis on Colorado landscapes has been of colored images. It's what sells! Sadly.

There are a good number of us who work in b&w & do Colorado, however, a name standing out as you requested specifically for landscape would be indeed limiting by definition. Some of our professors at our higher institutions of education should be noted. Our curator of photograph at DAM, Eric Paddock, should be noted. Robert Adams, a urban landscapist, likewise. I would also mention Hal Gould, Director of the Camera Obscura Gallery, Denver as being a noted long time Colorado photograher who has a wide range of subject matter. The Roach Gallery in Denver displays the work of Dutch Walla & Otto Roach, deceased, early Colorado landscape photographers.

But the one regional photographer who does the grand canyon thing of note would be, imo, Mark Klett at ASU.

Bruce Barnbaum would be about the closest I can think of, though he photographs many other areas.

    Thank you for the replies.

I didn't inquire about Colorado, the state, but the Colorado Plateau, a Geological Province defined by an upwarp of primarily multi hued sedimentary strata with deeply eroded canyons, most of which is in Arizona and Utah.

    Eliot Porter.

Sorry. Mr. Porter passed away. Still one of the best. And color.

OK, forget I was here. Wrong on all counts.
