For those of you in SoCal, I highly recommend you go see the show organized by Matthew Blais in Riverside. I've spent the last 15 years working in a vacuum, and it was a real treat to be in a room surrounded by like-minded folks and their stunning photographs. Some highlights:
I had a animated discussion with Domenico Foschi. As most of you know, he's an outspoken and talented photographer, and he had me laughing in no time.
I've read many descriptions of the beauty of carbon transfer prints, but I had never seen one in person. Jim Fitzgerald's prints took my breath away, and he generously spent much time describing his work. Fabulous.
Mat Blais is the friendliest guy in the world, and his portraits alone are worth the drive.
Lastly, Per Volquartz made me realize that I've got a lot of work to do. He is an artist and craftsman of the first order, and I could stare at his stuff for hours.
It was a wonderful evening, with great photography, conversation, food and drink. Check it out. You can find the announcement here on the forum, and the show runs through the weekend.
