    i900 just jammed--dead?

    Hey folks,

My i900 scanner just jammed--made a nasty banging sound again and again while starting a scan then nothing. Maybe smelled faint aroma of electrical burning? It still turns on, the scan light is on full-time now, and when it starts it boot up routine it doesn't sound right.

My Mac doesn't see it anymore.

Is this thing dead or what?

Is there a locking switch that might have accidentally gotten bumped to the lock position?

I tried locking and the re-locking the locking switch but not luck. That is also the only thing that the Microtek page suggests--aside from sending it in for repair (ha ha).

    Drats....
