    Epson V750 PRO 8x10 problem

I´ve borrowed an Epson V750 PRO to see what it can do with 8x10 bw negs. I place the neg on the glass inside the film area guide. When performing a prescan with the Silverfast Ai software the scanner will not scan larger than 5,9 x 9,7 and will not allow me to type the right format in the software, it just jumps back to 5,9 x 9,7. Anyone on the forum who can be of help?

If these dry 8x10 scans are "ok", I plan to try out with a wet mounting kit from ScanScience. Anyone out there who has tried this solution? My goal is to produce high quality prints on an 24" Epson 7880.

Make sure the 8x10 mask is place correctly on top of the scanning glass before you put your negative on the scanner. If the mask is correctly positioned, and you're still having a problem, then send an e-mail to Silverfast to learn if they have a solution.

From my experience with the 4990: on the "General" tab, make sure the "Original" dropdown is set to "Transparency(full area)". Otherwise scanning is restricted to the area covered by the film holders. The V750 may be different, but it sounds like that setting might be your problem.

Jim has it. Also, this limits your ability to use a third party wet mounting holder with an 8x10. You will need to mount directly to the platen glass as that is where the full area lens is focused (supposedly).

Thanks a lot! Choosing Transparency (full area) solved the problem. The scanner now works properly.

I think probably the scanner was working properly all along.

Certainly a user, not a scanner-problem. Nice that even newbees on scanning can get help. Anyone out there who has tried a wet mounting kit from ScanScience on this scanner? I need to produce high quality prints on an 24" Epson 7880.

    HI....

I am scanning 8 x10 copy negs (30 years old) and they scan beautifully. Printing on 9880 for 30 x 40 prints. I am also scanning various size glass plate negs and it's bit different and another story. I am soon to try wet mounting with KAMI Fluid. I 'll keep posted. Good luck.

i have had VERY good scans off this scanner. an 8x10 bw neg scanned at say 1600 dpi can be blown to very large sizes without issue. never had to do a wet mount and the prints look fantastic. try using transparency (full area) mode!
