    european ban

    does anyone Know what effect the european ban on frosted light bulbs will have on enlarger lamps?
    some of us still use vintage enlargers

    They have already been dropped by the major manufacturers, through lac of demand. However a small company is making them instead but at a far higher price.

    Some bulbs will be allowed for specialist uses, so if there's no alternative low energy bulb them you should be OK.

    None at all, it is only a ban on lighting bulbs, not on any special purpose ones. Sinking demand is a much greater problem. Some large opaque white bulb sizes (as used in ULF enlargers and copy equipment) have been out of production since a decade and old stock is now getting scarce. But it should not be too hard to build a replacement from a halogen socket and the glass off a old bulb or a similar shape white opaque glass dome whenever spares finally run out.
