Horrible lens, best used as a doorstop, and I happen to have an open door here that it can hold open.

It looks like a high quality copy lens for a large graphic arts camera, like those used in the printing business.

    Highly color corrected (Apochromatic)

    Flat field (Planar).

In barrel (no shutter), in box.

It probably has enormous coverage. If my camera had enough bellows draw, I'd buy it.

    42" Process lens at f/10. Covers 24x36 inches !

You will need 42 inches of bellow extension to focus at infinity, 84 inches for a 1:1 head on an 11X14, so, what good is it? A real pretty door stop. Or a 'mine is bigger than yours' argument finisher.

unless, one has a 16x20 or larger camera with 48" of bellows, and the motivation to add a supplementary track and bellows extension (a la Sinar).

Leonard, out of curiosity, how many sheckels would it take to own such an efficient and worthy doorstop?

    Leonard,

I have quite nice a collection of Carl Zeiss repro lenses ... and this uncoated Apo Planar would fit nicely .. also to compare to the Apo Germinars .. if you considered to sell .. I would be interested.

    Best regards,

    Joerg

    Hello,
Thank you all for the answers!
I don't want to sell the lens, just to collect more info.

I also have the apo germinar/apo ronar/apo artar of 1000/1050 mm. But this lens is very different from a dialyt lens.

    worm regards

    Peter:

Do you use multiple bellows, or is the 8x10 bellows already quite long ? How long a lens can you use with the Sinar 8x10 bellows ?

I have been seriously thinking of purchasing a kit to shoot 8x10 on my Sinar. It's a way to solve the affordable scanner problem, once and for all !
