I remember this image well and the precarious balance I had, while standing above the "White Hole" that drained into a deep crevasse somewhere downstream into the river. It was mid October, and the rock surface was very slippery with a mild ice film from the spray. As I finished, an energetic older gentleman, deposited from a recent tour bus a few meters above my location, happened to be standing immediately behind me, where he proceeded to scare the frigging crap out me by shouting into my ear, "What'cha doing?" I did not hear him approach nor did I realize he was there, because of the rushing river's noise. I almost fell in. That brief, yet fearful moment was just as bad as my most recent close encounter with a black bear, near the same damn location too.
Again thank you, and I am getting too old to get spooked...
