Spring Semester in Full Force
Our spring semester has begun. Many new students have been attracted to our new introductory Photographic Vision Digital I class which is offered in tandem with our analog Photographic Vision I class. It's exciting to have more offerings and new faces joining us at the studio.

We have more workshops and classes coming up soon including Learning your Digital SLR and Photoshop for Photographers. We are also offering workshops on Scanning and Creating Digital Negatives which will both feature hybrid processes between digital and analog.

For the complete listing of classes and workshops, please visit our website. To register, simply fill out the online registration form or contact the office directly.

Daguerreotypes at Project Basho
In March, we are inviting Takashi Arai from Japan to host a special series of Daguerreotype events. Arai is an emerging photographer who makes Daguerreotype portraits and landscapes. As our featured photographer for March, Arai was interviewed about his influences and how he came about re-discovering the daguerreotype process for his work.

He will conduct a public lecture on March 13th and a demonstration on the 15th. We will also host a portrait session where you can be the subject and have your photograph taken with this process. And we are working with local schools to run a one day workshop/demonstrations while Takashi Arai is in Philadelphia.

To coincide with the Daguerreian Society Symposium, we are working closely with the Library Company of Philadelphia and other cultural institutions in the area to run a series of Daguerreotype exhibitions and events this fall. This is part of our continuing effort to raise public awareness of historical processes as well as Philadelphia's contribution to the development of photography.

The details for all the Daguerreotype events will follow in the coming weeks. If you are interested in any of these events, please feel free to contact us.
