Were the people an intentional choice, or were they just there?

Thanks. They happened to be just there. Added a nice perspective to the landscape.

Barnninny, Mandoman7, Peter, Vaughn, and Nana - Thanks for the nice comments on Seagulls and Homestead. I'm off to the darkroom rental this week, so I'll be curious to see how they print, or more accurately, if my neophyte darkroom skills can produce anything worth hanging on a wall.

Peter-The sparkle of the seagulls is what caught my eye, so I'm glad that seems to be a noticeable quality of the photo. "Stalking" the seagulls with an incoming tide and a rapidly setting sun with a large format camera was interesting, to say the least.

Vaughn - Thanks for pointing out the space similarities of the two photos. I hadn't really thought about that, but they actually may be shown together. And, if you ever get a chance to wander southeast Oregon or the Steens Mtn., Alvord Playa area, it's well worth it.

Overall, I like it a lot. Nice composition.
    Thank you!

That's a bit special. I'd hang that on my wall and pretend everyday that it was my window! Those mountains are so sharp you could cut your eyeballs!

I think the people are great. Without them the color in the image would be lost for me.

Shiprock from the West side looking over the West Dike. Bought a Nikon 450 just to shoot this shot but haven't ever printed it before. Right now I have it about 10X6 on a piece of 11X14. Might try it larger. Fairly easy to print, though I keep in mind I can always be fooled....

    Robert,

An absolutely timeless image of Shiprock. The price of the 450 was worth it.
