marcookie, interesting comparison, thanks for posting. The difference in dynamic range seems apparent from the examples. What scanning hardware was used?

An Epson V850. The inversion of the negative is very subjective... But yeah, Velvia could not have handled the light conditions of the second capture. So it's not a real comparison because at soon as the sun appear the contrast increased quite a lot.

Ibthink I prefer the bottom on from Portra.

I originally preferred the velvia but I am starting to gravitate towards portra. Still not earth-shattering images but a good (necessary?) exercise in understanding the light-film combinations.

I use ColorPerfect to invert negatives and then depending on whether or not I am happy with Viewscans performance on the slide film, I may run it thru ColorPerfect as well.
