Ah man, we were there at the exact same time - I arrived 10/22 and left 10/24 for Sequoia National Park! I did see someone with a 4x5 at Tunnel View on the evening of 10/22, around 5:30pm just before sunset, heading back to his car. The camera looked like it may have had a cambo reflex hood on it. Would that have been you??

Would be fun to meet some local film/large-format shooters.

The best colors/foliage I saw were the Maple's near the entry of the valley, at Valley View. Absolutely stunning along the Merced. I'm bummed I overexposed those Velvia shots.

That was indeed me. Well, more likely than not. I never saw another person with a LF camera. Did see one group with a drone at Tunnel View. Are those things allowed in the park? Anyway, the thing I most regret was the clear blue skies. Especially at sunset. Oh well, next year.

Corran: I really like your "water puddles." We've been exchanging some notes on originality versus "the more common" images in the "Why We Photograph" thread, and I think this is a wonderful example of finding the less obvious in a scene. I'm in a bit of a bind, because I really like some of your creek scenes as well, even if they are more typical images, since they are also very well seen and done. OK, enough ego stroking !

Thank you Peter! I agree with you regarding the "less obvious." It's something I'm trying to improve on - but yeah I still like to shoot what might be "typical," in my own way .

Saw this on Flickr, gorgeous! Loved Mallorca when I visited, makes me want to go back for a visit. I could live in Spain

I like that one sheel. Ektar always has such electric blue skies though!

Here's something I took today. My original plan was a bust - went to a trail I've been wanting to hike for weeks but didn't realize to get much down it you have to ford a raging river (due to recent rains) and I was unprepared for that in improper clothes and with it being a chilly, windy day - not something I wanted to be wet in all day.

But I hung out around the edge of the "creek" and shot a few things anyway. Here are some water puddles on the banks of Holly Creek:

Thanks Corran! I wasn't sure at first about the sky, thought it looked a bit cyan and thought I may have overexposed a bit. But now I love it. Thinking back, it represents the sky pretty well. We're so used to seeing deep, saturated blue skies which may not be all that accurate.

Hah! That's awesome! I think you can do drones as long as you register with the park. With the recent storms that have moved in, the skies should be pretty neat.
