    Re: Large Format Landscapes

Since I have not been out on a photo trip in some time, I have been occasionally looking through the files at film I never scanned.

I am amazed at how my perspective on film changes over times. Images that were once some of my favorites don't do that much for me anymore and some I never bothered with look more appealing than they once did. Moral of the story is don't throw away any rejects, I might like them someday.

This was from a Utah trip over Christmas, 2005.

    Arca Swiss 4x5
    Lens, who knows?
    Velvia 100

    Very nice.

I would love to see this in color. Ever consider shooting the same scene with both on a regular basis?

Harley - that really is excellent! A landscape both flowing and frozen at the same time.

Thanks. No, I shoot in B&W because I love B&W and because I love to develop and print my films and photos in my darkroom. Colour photography doesn't ring my bell at all.

I couldn't agree more. One of the benefits of photographing over a period of decades is being able to see a progression in one's own work.

Did I say, "Decades?" Good grief!

The picture makes me regret the time spent not photographing!

Question, is the pink color enhanced with a filter or with post processing? i don't see the color reflected in the water. it is there but not as intense as you would expect it to be.
First of all, thank you all very much for your kind comments.

I will try to answer this special question: The pink colour was neither enhanced with a filter nor with post processing. I did no selective PP. So this remains a good question. I used a Heliopan polarizer and a LEE ND grad (I think 0,9 soft). I don´t think, that the colour comes from the NDG so a possible answer could be, that the Polarizer treated the reflection from the lake in a different way than the ones from the sky because of other wave-length/angle?

I have here another Frame made about 10 minutes later with my 6x17 Cam, I like it a lot I have to say:

    This is also a blast from the past. Over the weekend I was reading about the Japanese volcano, Ontake-san, that erupted without warning. We used to visit Kiso in the southern Japanese alps fairly often when we lived in Tokyo, and this is a picture of the village Kaida-mura, under Ontake-san;

This is one of my first attempts at large format, about 16 years ago, using Velvia and a Toyo Field with a Fujinon 90mm.

I have a roll of MF of this. Your perspective in far better. The B&W works very well with this scene. Nicely done Harley.
