    +1 -- Agreed

The same comment applies to Bryan's image below:

Thank you tuco! I took many family portraits with it and I am surprised how well the wide formal works even for simple candid portraits.

Thank you Dennis! When I first read David's comment, I thought it was about Bryan's leaf image as well and then I noticed his quote

    You are welcome, Pali.

    I like the image because it beautifully demonstrates real d e p t h !
The diagonal seems to help with that effect.

Personally, I feel the right side shadow area is a touch on the dark side.
Were you to print for an exhibit, consider dodging slightly to bring out the detail.

Good observation on the similar diagonals. Thanks all - I think Peter's "riot of color" comment is very apt for that leaf! It had flowers but the leaves were much more interesting...

It's been raining a lot in the late afternoon. At Lake Lanier, right past Buford Dam, there's a fishing area that always fogs up late in the day after a rain. I took this image there.

Thanks, Nicholas. Hey, you have the privilege of being one of the last volunteers ever accepted at Newspace. Sorry it all crumbled before you could actually work a shift. Stay tuned, more is on the way in the form of a new organization, if all goes well. It's chaos at the moment.

Bryan, very neat dragonflies. nice detail in the wings. And I enjoy the abstract background shapes.

Southeast of the Grand Canyon is a couple of lesser-known national monuments, including Sunset Crater Volcano. I swung by there late after going to the Grand Canyon and looked around. The volcano erupted about 1000 years ago and deposited a lot of volcanic rock and such around the mountain. There's some very interesting areas around the lava flow trail - an easy 1 mile trail. There are large swaths of beautiful red rocks, hence the name "Sunset Crater."

Here's a couple of images on Velvia 50:
