Schneider Symmar 180mm Convertible lens coverage

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything about it.

    I've got a Symmar 180mm F5.6 convertibe - 315mm F12 when converted.

Would the 315mm have enough coverage for 8"x10"?

Re: Schneider Symmar 180mm Convertible lens coverage

    Hello !
You might find some information in the old Schneider catalogues, available on-line
    here
    http://schneiderkreuznach.com/archiv/archiv.htm
Schneider has scanned many old brochures including the ones you are looking for i.e. old symmars before the Symmar-S.
    The pdf file : sr_5.6_a.pdf
    http://schneiderkreuznach.com/archiv/pdf/sr_5.6_a.pdf
mentions that the rear cell of the convertible Symmars covers 30° only.
In theory a 315mm lens covering 30° has an image circle of 170m only.
Bad news : we are far from what is required to cover the diagonal of ~ 300 mm / 12" of the 8x10" format.

the other files for symmars (sorry, in German) are
    http://schneiderkreuznach.com/archiv/pdf/symmar_5.6.pdf
    and
    http://schneiderkreuznach.com/archiv...ymmar_1964.pdf

Thanks Emmanuel - I had a feeling that might be the case!

If you are a subscriber to view camera magazine, Kerry Thalmann reviewed Schneider lenses. The review is in two sections, I believe your lens would be covered in Schneider lenses: Current to Past (Part 2 of 2).

If you have access to the magazines, this part of the review was published in the January/February 2003 issue of the magazine.
