    Darkroom supplies in Montreal.

I am looking for some odds and ends for darkroom supplies in Montreal; those things like bottles that used to be really easy to come by but now are very limited or gone in most shops. And XTOL, which mysteriously seems unavailable in Ottawa.

    Any suggestions?

I'm surprised Henry's on Bank Street doesn't have what you need. Since Henry's has a huge on-line site with most things (including Xtol), they could probably get it into the store for you. I've bought from the on-line site a number of times and been completely satisfied.

Just picked up some Xtol from Henry's. Ask them to order Webcode 411K0D020 for you.

Nalgene bottles are available by the case on ebay for not much money.

Henry's is OK, but still has a very limited supply in-store. If I want to order stuff, there is a whole mess of options, but I was hoping to be able to peruse a bit. I ended up wih some Kentmere Ktol in the end in any case (ordered).

I too picked up a load (18 packets to be precise) of Xtol from Henry's. They have 4 (that I know of) locations in Ottawa. They just opened up a store at Hunt Club and Marivale. I got mine from there but had to order it. Sadly, their darkroom section has been reduced to a single shelf.

Ordering what you need from the store will save you shipping costs. That's how I got a couple of boxes of E100VS readyloads from Vistek in Ottawa(formerly Ginn). They don't carry it in their Ottawa store, but will bring it up from their Toronto one, if you ask for it. And they don't charge you shipping.

Montreal is quickly becoming third world too when it comes to supplies.
Camtec Photo in Old Montreal stocks only the basics but will gladly order anything you want.

Not sure why anyone would deal with Vistek in T.O.?
I would rather cut a deal with the devil.

Vistek in Calgary is not that bad, just more expensive, less selection and poorer service than The Camerastore. Used to use them at work and it took forever to get a price quote and then they would give purchasing a different price each time. Like a couple of cents different on a $500 item. In Calgary their darkroom corner cannot even be called a corner unless they mean a corner of a shelf.
