    Beseler Enlarger History Question

Has anyone compiled information on the various models of Beseler 45 enlargers? I am looking for a production timeline and features of the various models.

A web search didn’t generate many leads.

    Thanks for the help.

    Looks like an interesting book.

It does look like an interesting book, but given the 1954 date of publication, it isn't going to tell us much about the evolution of the M series enlargers up to the 45 MXT.

Might be able to piece it together if these manuals and brochures have dates: http://www.darkroompro.com/pdf/enlargers/

Also, some date info listed in the descriptions on Craig's Camera site:

Beseler has a naming scheme for most of their enlargers which describes the features of the machine. E.g. a 45MXC is a 4x5 enlarger chassis with a motorized colorhead and extra support truss.
    •Two-digit number — the max size of the negative it can accept (e.g. 23 is 2cm x 3cm, 66 is 6cm x 6cm, 45 is 4x5 inches, etc.)
•M — electric motor to raise and lower the lamphouse
•C — Beseler colorhead (filter drawer type)
•R — Resistrol unit (variable voltage regulator)
•X — Rear support truss (extra reinforcement)
    •AF — Automatic focus
    •B — Beslite (flourescent cold-light head)
•AG — Beseler-Agra colorhead (continuously variable filter type)

    Beseler is still in business.

    Why don't you ask them?
