    It vanished. Replacing with surrogate.

Like people who walk up mountains with an 8x10, I took me a day to fix the napkin.

    Dear Christopher,

That must be a very heavy napkin...

    Excellent composition with wonderful tones.

    Well done.

Did an Flextight scan of this one. Ebony 4x5 with 135 Sironar on FP4. Still at it with the napkin thing.

Perhaps the final print is large, but I find myself wanting to get a bit closer, as I do with posting number 545. With posting number 552, that is less an issue.

Perhaps it's a matter of scale, or visual cues that denote scale. The fruit bowl has fruits, which being familiar objects, denote scale. The gears and metal parts appear massive in nature, but a bit small within the photos.

First of all: great image, Jehu! Very interesting to read about the technique you used.

A simple (and a bit too sourish maybe?) contribution from my side as well. Comments are welcome as always!

Just thought I'd mention that those knives are very economical and kick serious ass. I have both a chef's and a paring. They sharpen like a dream, too.

    Excellent photograph.

There's this camera doing the rounds between a few of us here,
so I thought I'd try a still life with it-
    not something I usually do-

Like everyone else, I've learned a lot from Christopher's pictures and postings on the subject,
though, looking at this, that's not very apparent-
    I think I need a bigger background...
