Thanks! It does need work. I would like to keep some detail in the rock over-hang at the top of the frame and pull a hint of texture out of the sun-lit water. And I have to see how the light balances on each side of the falls when the image is reversed during carbon printing. Looking forward to working with it!

Preston: I haven't been to Wildcat Creek in Yosemite since I was there with a group in the Ansel Adams workshop of 1973! I'm sure I photographed that same area with my Hasselblad on a tiltall tripod. Nice to see it again.

Boinzo: I took my daughter up there in the summer and the crowd was amazing. My daughter dropped her sunglasses off that spot you are in and I worked my way below into the water to retrieve them. I came up with a double handful of dropped sunglasses! Thanks for posting. Hope you get another trip to the Sierra.

For a first attempt - well done - Hardraw is a difficult subject.

Hardraw is much better if you can catch it when lit by sunlight (from about 10:00 till 15:00 ~ ish - the sun moves left to right in the shot) - the column of water really sparkles in the sunlight and the overhang is emphasised.

For what its worth I have had many attempts over the years to shoot Hardraw and never yet been fully satisfied - although there are many worse places to spend a day watching the light change

    Thanks for the encouragement Martin.

Which day in the year does the sun shine on Hardraw? Every time I have visited it has been a race to beat the rain.
