hey friends, having pined for years over the frustratingly visible difference be tween prints made from 8x10 versus 4x5 originals-- even when printed in small si ze, i've decided it's finally time to make the jump. my 4x5 is a Wista SP-- tot ally bombproof metal camera that i have sworn by for a decade. I'd like to get something similar in 8x10 (i.e., not one of those bendy wood cameras), but it do esn't need to be backpackable-- just sturdy and reliable.
any thoughts generally on issues I need to consider-- differences in the way 8x1 0 operates, equipment suggestions, etc? i've been shooting all these yars with a 210mm lens on my 4x5, so i'll probably get a 420 or something close to that ra nge. i know depth of field is a big issue with 8x10, and of course weight and t he cost of film-- any other things i should consider? general comments, suggest ions, etc?
thanks a bunch! ~chris jordan, Seattle
