    Great Basin NP Question

On July 4th, my wife and I will be taking a short trip to Great Basin NP. I plan to take all 3 of my photography mediums there (LF, 35mm, and digi) to shoot around for about 2 days. I know it is not that much time, but does anyone here have any recommendations on must see and/or shoot places? Thank you in advance for your help.

    God Bless,
    David

The bristlecone pine forest there is always good, although probably best at sunrise/sunset given the harsh lighting this time of year (I would suggest calling the visitor center and asking about this). Also, nearby Cathedral Gorge State Park is great for an afternoon visit if you can make time (it's a fine location for B&W photography). I would suggest two Photograph American newsletters as being particularly useful (the second one covers Cathedral Gorge and several other Nevada locations):

While you don't have a lot of time, there is a railroad museum in Ely. I haven't been there, but have friends who have and think it is a great place for photos.

Thank you Keith for the suggestion. I'll chalk that up as a potential spot. We will be staying in Ely while there anyway so it might be convient to go.

The Bristlecone forest is a must see. The attached photo isn't very compelling, but it should give an idea of what sunrise can hold. This is Wheeler Peak, from the Mather Overlook (I believe).

About 2 hours southwest of Ely is Lunar Craters National Monument; it's pretty interesting, in a spartan desert kind of way.
