It interests me, being a Graflex nut, how many folks are using them. My minimalist kit is a 4X5 Pre Anniversary Speed Graphic with 135 Tessar or a 135 Eurynar. It is housed in a small aluminum box with 6 film holders, a set of series VI filters, a magnifying glass and a lens hood. Very compact, about 6X8X12, and light. I always carry an old lightweight tripod in the car and one in the van.

Mine is an Anniversary Speed Graphic with an iris lens board, and a pocket-full of lenses: 3 1/4" "Optimus Portable", 135mm Doppel-Amatar, 16,5cm Dagor, and a caskt set to fill out the gaps.

Tachihara 810HD triple extension view camera, 121/8 Super Angulon, 300/5.6 Fujinon W, 720/16 Landscape Achromat in Copal#3, 5 film holders, and all the other stuff. It is just not worth bustin' myself carrying a 8x10 up a mountain just to find the perfect subject for the lens I didn't bring.

I used to carry much more gear, but now I usually carry a minimalist kit.

    8x10:
    Kodak Master
450/9 Nikkor M or 19" Red Dot Artar
    240/9 Germinar W as a second lens
    Ries tripod
a few film holders with Efke PL100 or TMax 400

    4x5:
    Chamonix
    240/9 Germinar W
    150/9 Germinar W as a second lens
    old Bogen with Acratech head
either Velvia Quickloads or a few film holders with Efke PL100 or TMax 400

A 5x7 Korona with an 8.5" Ilex Paragon lens. A Berlebach 2024 tripod and six film holders. I sling the camera and tripod over my shoulder and carry the film holders and my meter in a fanny pack and all the kids in Fairfax say, "There goes that crazy old man again. Hasn't he ever heard of digital?"

Re: Your minimalist field photo kit?

I guess if I wanted to get really minimalistic, I would go with my pre Anniversary 3X4 Speed Graphic with the 135 Eurynar, a 16 sheet bag mag and a light meter, of course. I think that's as minimal as it gets.
