    Schneider Componon-S lens

Does anyone know if the Componon-S f/5.6 150mm lens is symmetrical and wide angl e or is it an asymmetrical Tessar design ? Is it a good lens and if so why did t hey stop making it ? Are the newer models much better ? All unbiased comments ar e welcome.

    Schneider Componon-S lens

It is fairly symmetrical, like a Plasmat. I wouldn't call it a wide-angle. Yes, it is a good lens, one of the best. Have they really stopped making it? It's sti ll on their web site (http://www.schneideroptics.com/enlarge/s/s.html). For some purposes, you might prefer the Apo models. I am biased: I like it, but have no financial interest.
