I decided to start a separate thread from the Chamonix shoot out thread. Gustavo has posted an idea for something to be done in the San Fernando Valley area. This seems to be more of a formal workshop with some structure to it. I think it would be a good idea and you can count me in. If people in the Valley have contacts for locations you can pm either myself or Gustavo. I will be glad to help on this. We will have to decide a location and a date so we will let everyone know.

I'm assuming that what you are proposing here is separate from the lighting workshop that Gustavo is trying to set up.
I'm most likely interested in this also - it all depends on the timing due to the travel distance I have to come from and what my travels for work might be. As you know from our discussions in the previous thread, you have to be careful on the number of people. Two weeks ago we had 8 photographers and 3 models and it seemed to work pretty well for a morning's session. However, that was partially due to the very large shaded patio area we had to work under out of the bright sun. Even then, it was somewhat hectic in switching from model to model. If there were more photographers or fewer models, there is going to be a lot of standing around waiting for models to be available. I think probably a good scenario would be 4 or 5 photographers and two models. Remember that more people means we need more space to set up shooting spots.

Dan, I meant to say that Gustavo's idea is a good one. Something more structured in that area. I guess a more formal type of shoot. I just wanted to start a separate thread based on the idea that Gustavo had. I do not have the experience yet in portrait/nude work to set this up but I am willing to help and be a part of the learning experience.

with one camera and going over light set up and model ,composition and pose.
with round table discussion after the shooting is done .
To keep things simple and moving along only one camera will be used and all you have to bring will be film on holders and may be a lens if it can be used on the camera to be used wink wink Dan and his 360 mm Heliar and his ,with a maximum of 8 participants ( admission is first come first served reserved the right of refusal )and one really great model with tons of experience ,
before I go into too much work here I need to know who may be seriously interested !!
Location is likely to be in West San Fernando Valley.

This sounds so exciting especially as you are set up with continuous lighting.
I am very interested in joining and may have a lady photographer who wants to come too!
How many places are there altogether and how many are still available?
What is the cost.
Is this a group shoot where we share the expenses as before or is this a commercial workshop that you are putting on?
