Lens tinkering question - does a 300mm Gerogon fit a standard Copal #1 or #3?

300mm is a focal length I rarely use hence I can't bring myself to buy a 'proper ' lens already in a shutter (I did buy a used Repro Claron but I was "had" if yo u know what I mean).

I have a size 1 and size 3 shutter handy. Does anyone know if the 300mm Gerogon fit into a shutter directly?

The Apo-Gerogon? If so, yes, the 300mm version needs a number 3 shutter I believe. I know for certain that the 210mm fits into a #1, and although I own a 300mm Apo-Gerogon, I don't own a #3 shutter to try it in. There should be some spacing shims in the existing mount, be careful not to lose them.

The Gerogon series are process lenses they do not fit standard shutter threads

TheGeronar series are LF camera lenses and do fit direectly

The only process lenses from Rodenstock that fit standard shutters are Apo Ronars. That is why they are the only ones offered to the photo industry. The others are sold to the graphic arts industry which does not use shutters.

Jimmy, I am referring to the APO Gerogon - a fairly common graphic arts process lens. You are referring to something totally different - the Geronar triplet.
