I use SilverFast for my Nikon SuperCoolScan 8000 all the time. Especially since Nikon hasn't released software for the Intel Mac running Leopard.
SilverFast works great.
I just got Silverfast AI Studio for my 9000. (I tend to be one of those people who are always wondering if my work could be better). Downloaded the demo and tried it with some medium format chromes, in the glass carrier (also a must for medium format). I found that the detail and separation down into the lower values was much better than the 9000 software. It's not cheap - around $500.00 - and the glass carrier was $350.00, but I'm happy with the results. The only quirk I've found is that I have to load the film carrier (whichever one I'm using), into the scanner, then reboot the computer to get the software to recognize the scanner. Just one more step, but overall I'm pleased with the results.
