I'm adding another vote to Dave v6.2. I'm currently using it to connect a Mac with OS9.2 to my predominately Windows network. It works perfectly.
On a side note, I'm not exactly sure why one would want to use Dave v7 with OSX systems when you can configure networking via SMB. I'm doing that as well for another computer, and it works great.
