Explore the World with Your Camera — Introducing Destination Trips

We are excited to announce our new offering, trips specifically for photographers to national and international destinations. These trips are especially designed for photographers by photographers. Some of the trips are more like workshops while others will function as excursions with like minded photographers. On top of traveling to locations and points of interests for photographing, we will infuse elements of cultural exchange with locals. So, you'll literally be exploring another culture with your camera.

The trips we are planning include:
  • Le Bez, France - June 2008
  • Kanazawa & the Noto Peninsula in Japan - September 2008
  • Four Corners in the Southwest - Fall 2008

More details about these exciting trips will soon follow. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact us.

His area of interest is late 19th century photographic printing processes and in particular, he has done extensive research on both collotype and woodburytype printing processes. His own creative work has been exhibited internationally and is part of the public collections in various museums including the International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.

Movie Night on April 20th

Our first movie night is April 20th featuring "Blowup," a suspense movie from the 60's. Chairs and popcorn included, b.y.o.c. (bring your own cushion). Movie screenings are open to the public and free of charge. Bring your friends to the occasion to see photography related movies. If you have suggestions for great movies to screen, please also contact us.

About "Blowup":
A successful mod photographer in London whose world is bounded by fashion, pop music, marijuana, and easy sex, feels his life is boring and despairing. But in the course of a single day he accidentally captures on film the commission of a murder. The fact that he has photographed a murder does not occur to him until he studies and then blows up his negatives, uncovering details, blowing up smaller and smaller elements, and finally putting the puzzle together.
  • April 20th, 6:30 pm
  • Location: Project Basho Gallery
  • 1305 Germantown Ave.
  • Philadelphia, PA 19122

Visiting the Gallery

Since the opening of the gallery, classes from different schools have visited our studio to tour as well as to see what's going up on our walls. During the studio tour, we provide a detailed explanation of the exhibition including how the show came about. The studio tour is also a good introduction to our facility. We welcome studio tours by classes and other groups. If your organization would like to make an appointment to visit Project Basho Gallery, please feel free to contact us.
